VEDA
DISTORTION AND MANIPULATION
This post is based on the formulas to judge the authenticity of any scripture which were not used by the cults and academic institutions so how can anyone do further research or apply the things in day to day life. The major part of the research on veda moves around fake theories promoted by the cults and people holding the chair in the academic world. The interpretation may differ but the basic fabric must remain as it is. What is the meaning of this sentence?
When the contents of the Vedic literature is prepared according to the need of the cult and pseudo intellectual the fabric changes. The purpose of Veda is to help human civilization so it will address various subjects. Personally anyone may not like a topic but that do not give a license to remove that one from the list. On the other hand a topic may suit personal interest but that must not be highlighted in the list by adding verses or cooked stories. In the other words night will remain night and won't become day because electricity is used or owl and four legged animals can see without light or spectacles. It will be a blunder to label the night as a day.
The word veda is related with the information required to maintain the harmony with self, body, family, relatives, friends, state, country, residents of this planet (human and other forms), natural things and nature. When one talks about the authority of Veda it denotes experienced knowledge and before that it is simply avidya or ignorance. After all only information won't take anywhere. It must be applied or experienced.
Since the current flexible Sanskrit grammar points toward knowledge so we have adopted that (knowledge) as the meaning of the word Veda but it must be supported by study, reasoning and experience. This trio is essential and any type of liberty will increase the confusion. The problem arises when it is labeled as unchangeable and unquestionable. Even none of the sacred books supports this mentality.
The word astika or theist and nastika or atheist is added with Veda as if it is simply a book whose support results in theistic view and opposition results in atheistic angle. According to the Vedic literature we've the concept of asti - the book is here, the book is not here. The word 'here' is common in both the cases. Therefore the view of na-asti is not relevant in our system but on this basis Charvaka, Jain and Buddhism are termed as nastika because they don't accept the authority of Veda or take it as pramana. It also sounds like Veda is a book which has to be followed with closed eyes. There's not a single line which supports this claim pasted by the cults and academic institutions.
The trio of study, reasoning and experience via various mediums, capacity to read the cosmic law, meditation on the scriptures, nidhidhysan and training of matching the scriptures is required to grasp the essence of Veda. When a seeker runs after grammar or various interpretation a mountain of confusion arises in the society. The flexibility of the Sanskrit grammar is misused and the meanings are calculated on the basis of personal agenda.
As said in the starting, harmony is needed and for that rules and regulations are made. They are changeable according to the socio cultural pattern of a particular period.
When mahamuni Vedavyasa saw the limited grasping power of mankind during the pauranic age he divided the bulk information on the basis of content. He became the first editor of Vedic literature. The students who graduated under him directly expanded the vedic literature through the lineage of 'guru shishya parampara'. The students coming from the same or various regions wrote several things as one can read about 1000 shahkas of Samaveda. When we talk about the lost material the shahkas were lost.
On the basis of meters three names were given - - RIGVEDA, YAJURVEDA AND SAMVEDA which were already present in the Upanishads. The Rik mantras had fixed number of alphabets and strictly followed a fixed pattern of pronunciation in all the lines. This was absent in other two. The Yajurveda is like a free verse where emphasis is on the message. The samveda was meant for singing and that's why in Gita it is highlighted in the chapter 10 for the melodious nature.
The confusion is related with Atharvaveda which has got three more names (Bramh Veda due to the Rishi Brahm who was the seer of 400+ mantras, Chatra Veda due to the rules related with the administration, Bhishga Veda due to the topic of water and sun rays treatment) but due to vested interest it was taught that it came in the list of Veda afterwards. Therefore from the angle of contents vedas are four. Wherever the word त्रयी विद्या or trayi vidya is mentioned, it is denoting the dimension of the meter.
The divided matter got different names due to the collection of mantras of the same nature. The mantras of other nature are also present but they're few in number. Therefore there's no need to scratch eachother's back in the name of pseudo intellectualism. It destroys the intellectual digestion.
There's nothing as first or oldest veda. When old or new is added we're limiting the Veda in a book containing some fixed item or subject. The vedic information is not concerned about this or that diet neither it stops females from chanting or hearing the verses nor it favors the casteism by birth. The current form of Veda is full of prayers which can be used by everyone.
The concept of division of labor was started when human thought of permanent settlement. Various things are needed to run the system and the people became skilled in one of them. After all everything can't be done by a single person which is revealed in the Vedas.
The extrovert community created scores of rituals which contained human and animal sacrifice. There's no need to search the spiritualistic meaning of them. That society was called demons or asura. The Satpath Brahman supports this point in a codified way. The human community got the information from both category of teachers - deva and asura. With this they had their own lineage of teachers. This is THE REASON of controversies in the contents. In the order to avoid this the Rishis of Vedic age gave the formulas to judge the authenticity of any scripture which were changeable according to the need of an era or even any other which might create turmoil in the society. Acharya Madhusudan Saraswati have supported this and pointed towards the greediness of a person involved in rituals when that person asks for personal gift in the name of distributing the things after homa.
In the name of research when formulas are not used the values will remain hidden. The controversies are further increased by taking fake books or those which were manipulated by adding portions, as authentic. As one can see the current edition of parashar samhita which talks about Hanuman's marriage. A temple is in khammam district of Andhra Pradesh. The camel is taken as his vahan on the basis of another fake book. One can see the worship of both in Mysore. When personally saw this in 2014 while attending a seminar, asked the reason but there wasn't any correct answer. The books of devotees were taken as the proof about camel as a vahan of Hanuman. With this there are books talking about two more wives and five sons.
The vedic literature is facing the problem of contents. When someone sees any particular veda, the Upanishads are absent. All the publishers are including Ishavasya upanishad because they are taught in a manipulated way. The cults says - - 'other Upanishads contain stories and names of rulers and sages. They sound like history'. This is nothing but blasphemy where people show their pseudo faith towards veda. When veda is taken as God then the almighty has the right to explain according to the grasping power of an individual. The names do not prove that they were added to promote hidden agenda. Readers are requested to read the post Upanishads - an investigation (in three parts) in the blog - akshaygroundreality.blogspot.com
When a person wants to know about Veda a mountain of confusion comes in the picture. Let us see the mountain closely:--
1. How to understand them?
In the order to avoid the whirlpool of interpretation one must follow the formulas to judge the authenticity of any scripture. One can see them in the post = Upanishad - An investigation (2) in the blog akshaygroundreality.blogspot.com
2. Why they are needed? Can't we rely on the writings of renowned authors?
The literature of ancient scholars was manipulated during Gupta, Mauyra, Mughal and British period in which many scholars sold their talent to meet the needs of the rulers. For example the concept of sun moving round the earth was injected in the bhashya and commentaries on veda. Even verses were added in few places to support this concept so that if anyone challenges the authenticity of the meaning, the verses can be shown. The astrology has never said this. The manipulaters knew the weakness of the mass who will run after big names and may not prefer a new author who is saying something after proper analytical research. One may ask about the version of astrology and other scriptures who talks about earth moving round the sun directly or indirectly. Here lies the need of the formulas.
When one closely watches the verses on the basis of chanda or meters, mistakes can be seen easily. Every cult has taken their founder as the incarnation of God with the quality of knowing everything. Their literature is full of contradiction and confusion. Many have wasted their energy in rejecting Adi Shankaracharya. Their own faith moves around puranas and dharmashastras which are paratah siddha (they must be approved by the formulas). Dharmashastras were written to address the need of an era. They are changeable but they're marketed as unchangeable.
There are versions of Rishis which are based on personal experience. It is common since they wrote whatever they experienced on the basis of their status. When versions are highlighted, the division develops and the person stays till the version concerned. If one is happy with that, he /she can settle at that point but for a true seeker formulas are needed. A serious seeker will see the difference in the experience and might go on repeating it if there's an absense of study and reasoning.
3. Can you give examples to prove their (formulas) importance?
The issue related with Hanuman and the earth moving round the sun is already mentioned. Here few light examples will be given. The word 'ADITYA' means surya or sun or one who illuminates. The kids of Aditi(one of the two wives of sage Kashyap, other is diti - mother of daityas) are known as Aditya. This word also means the consumer of the life. After all when a day is over, it decreases a day of the life. On the one hand sun gives energy required for survival and on the other hand it shortens day by day. Both the meanings are right. The manipulator will say the former one. Now which meaning must be taken and why? It cannot be judged simply by imagination or illicit reasoning. In this case there are 12 Adityas who're the deities of twelve months (one aditya for every month). This post can be achieved by penance. And all of them does the duty of give - take. There's one vishnu among them and in Gita(10. 21), krishna expresses himself to be Vishnu among Aditya who is the deity of kartik month of Indian calendar. In the same verse he describes himself as Ravi among the illuminating objects. The deity of kartik month is also playing the role of illuminating and Ravi is also doing the same. The Ravi denotes the object or physical form which can be seen by eyes directly whereas for the vishnu one has to do the penance. A seeker can also feel the presence of particular aditya based on the month alloted. This Vishnu is not in the trio of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.
The word Vishnu is related with the concept of all pervading - vyapnoti sarvam iti vishnu. And this is THE required meaning. Here, the manifested form is neither negated nor neglected. Thing is when someone pressurizes others to follow their version and create a division in the trio (brahma, vishnu and mahesh) with the help of puranas, flexible Sanskrit grammar, the society has the right to ask about the authenticity which depends on the formulas and not on the commentaries of the cults or literature of the devotees.
4. What about Arya migration? Sanskrit as the foreign language?
None can claim any authentic answer. The current political map of India or of Gupta or Mauryan period supports the migration of the aryans but ages ago the map was different so from that angle the people belonged to the same nation. On the other hand tthings related with Vedic society were found in various countries which proves some sort of link on which research has not been done properly.
The clay tablets discovered were not in Sanskrit which does not mean that it is a modern language. In the way construction industry has expanded and the lack of interest in the things of the past which are underground, it is not easy to show any proof but that also do not prove the claim about the period of the Sanskrit language.
5. View regarding females chanting gayatri mantra or talking in Sanskrit?
In the same way the issue of stopping females and people belonging to lower caste as if casteism is by birth, from chanting Vedic mantras or even listening to them, torturing in the name of scriptures can be addressed easily. In one platform Akshay was abused while talking on casteism because the audience have studied casteism by birth and not by guna karma. The cults and academic institutions promoted the idea of 'Caste by Birth'. When this is the outcome of the research, healthy discussion is far away. The media and literary icons also relied due to personal interest. The so called reformers cashed the tears but they never accepted that they're not giving from their pocket.
Regarding gayatri mantra, post in the blog akshaygroundreality.blogspot.com is available and a video (in Hindi - gayatri aur nari varg - gayatri and females) in the channel named Akshay Chaitanya in the youtube is present to serve the purpose. A funny reason given is females won't conceive after chanting gayatri mabtra. Male and female both are needed for a child. If a male can become father by chanting gayatri mantra females can also do this. The apparatus required for reproduction is in the body of aty female. Therefore there's no need to stop her from chanting.
6. It is simply not possible to understand these scriptures with accuracy due to linguistic changes, errors, the way written material was stored, etc.
This charge is an excuse to avoid the analyses. Horizontal and vertical study of the literature, meditating on them, control over organs(sense, action and the mind), openmindedness, gratitude helps in the process of unfolding every scripture.
Take the issue of casteism where animals were classified as Brahmin, khatriya, Vaishya and Shudra. One fellow said his guru swami shivanand never said anything like this. Another fellow said his sadhguru blasted casteism in 30 seconds. One after the other big names were quoted but the situation is same and their views were not taken in the syllabus or accepted nationally.
None of them studied the scriptures related with other creatures on this issue. They might haven't thought or not guided by their teachers or even tendency of hiding the facts is also possible because cults and academic institutions want their style of research or interpretation. It is done to maintain the supremacy of own caste or for spreading hatred towards a particular caste by supporting casteism by birth. Lot of literature is written to broaden the division and we're facing the result.
It also changes on the basis of the profession because it is based on guna karma. Wherever there's any contradictory line it can be addressed. Speakers care about their target audience and Vedicliterature is blamed blindly.
7. Veg and nonveg :-
The vast vedic literature contains the concept of nonveg also. It is neither a tribal tradition which got an entry in Hinduism nor added by foreigners. There's no need to see the spiritualistic meaning of animal sacrifice. In the way the definition and the contents of Vedic literature has been made, a mountain of confusion is standing in the front. Few old books on Ayurveda support non veg and even human flesh is mentioned. They're kept for reference purposes but not taught because many ingredients are not available. There are few homas for the ruling class where animal sacrifice is mentioned and not only that the species are prescribed for the sacrifice which means that the person does not have any choice. They were consumed as prasad. The verses are present in puranas which are either not kept before the audience or they're diluted by saying - 'animal was left after touching' and the rest of the verses remain hidden in the book. The tradition of shakt division of Hinduism has animal sacrifice in their scriptures. Few scholars claim that nonveg do not belong to the Aryans which is totally baseless. The ruling class belonging to the Aryan clan consumed nonveg and alcohol. On the other hand few 'liberals' say that it has nothing to do with 'dharma' and if Ayurveda says something, it is related with health and not 'dharma'. Ayurveda also belongs to 'dharna' - the dharma of looking after the physical, mental and intellectual well being which is needed to maintain a balance in behaviour and spiritualism.
Pseudo preachers and so called lovers
Sanatan dharma / Vedic dharma / Hinduism had divided society in the name of diet. In order to fulfil their ulterior motives non–veg was kept in the domain of tamasik food and as a major hurdle in the path of spirituality. They are not ashamed to question the spiritual progress of the saints who have consumed non veg. If vegetarian diet is the parameter of spirituality and awakening of kundalini shakti then all the herbivorous animals must be at that level of awakening. Even onion, garlic, carrot, jackfruit are taken as non veg. Among all these only onion and garlic got the support of various major bhakti sampradayas and organisations. Funny and cooked stories are promoted regarding their origin. For them these were produced from animals. The brainwashed society believes this in the name of faith. Not only illiterate but educated ones are accepting these 'discoveries' with full devotion and dedication. They are worried about the smell of onion garlic but happily accept in the case of cauliflower, radish and capsicum. The person who is consuming these vegetables feels the smell and others get during burp and fart but here also smell is divided. In fact the smell is due to the presence of certain chemicals in the vegetables. Sanatan dharma is not based on any diet plan. In fact every kind of food is related to body level and spirituality asks a seeker to go beyond that.
8. Purush sukta :-
Horrible interpretation of this sukta which donot have same style of chanting is being used as a weapon. The faulty style of teaching is quite old because the ruling class wanted to promote own interest. And for that sponsored the scholars to wrote according to the need of their rulers. This trend is followed till now where facts are not kept in the syllabus properly. While dealing with other creatures the syllabus won't include those verses which talks about all the same four varnas.
Biologically body parts can't give birth but the society is busy fighting on that basis because the sukta in the discussion talks about that. The surface or dictionary meaning can misguide easily but how many people really care about that.
9. Agam shastras :-
A group of books related with the construction, maintainence of temples, rules regarding the rituals and ceremonies conducted. They are based on the topography of a particular region and the needs of the local population. There's no need to show any type of supremacy or take them unchangeable when it comes to the rituals.
They are not directly derived from veda. The different agamas were later added by the shishyas which can be proved by the style of presentation. That's why variations and differences are noticed.
The trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh is neither taught nor supported openly by agamas. If one takes them as one, there's no problem but the society was taught division. Till now people are eager to discuss on the supremacy of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.
If there's any contradiction or confusion, scriptures of higher level must be taken as a proof if the issue is mention in the my. If the issue donot have old reference formulas are there to judge the authenticity so there's no need to quarrel or hate or pamper one's own ego in the name of agam shastras.
10. Dharmashastras :-
They denote the need of an era and are always changeable. None of them are final proof because all are paratah siddha. The current editions of code books are not original so from this angle also one must start hating eachother or blame old scriptures for all the problems. There is
no need to add child marriage, honor killing, sati system, etc as a part of the vedic literature.
All the smritis which are taken as dharmashastras were written on the basis of memory and that is why they are known as 'dmriti'. Out of these manusmriti is famous and the centre of chaos. All the available editions of various publishers are not real. Every serious reader can understand that the available hand written manuscripts of manusmriti cannot give a guarantee of originality. Whenever the published editing was burnt it was the 'fake manusmriti'. Just by seeing a handwritten manuscript do not take it as original everytime. The point to be noted is a person is copying someothet's written work directly from the original or secondary source. In both the cases the material is hand written. While copying the reliability stays doubyfull and in the case of the scriptures like manusmriti it was the secondary source everytime. Chances of removing and adding the verses is more. Therefore on the basis of several manuscripts an edition of a scripture is prepared. When the source is not authentic the prepared scripture must not be as the final proof.
The period problem of females and restriction on entering temples, worshipping in home, etc is an age old conspiracy. It has nothing to do with religion and spirituality. Unfortunately so called dharmashastras do not allow them and without judging their authenticity fanatic followers on sanatan dharma are supporting this foolishness. Even deemed universities on Hinduism and several organisations are justifying this foolishness. Physical weakness is one thing but connecting an biological issue with worshipping is a crime.
11. Sacrifice :-
Animal sacrifice is present in shakt, tantra, etc traditions and they belong to Vedic literature. In every religion it is present and there is no need to wash one's own hands by claiming that our literature avoids that. From Nepal to various parts of India, animal sacrifice is done. One may say it is for the 'taste' and promoted in the name of religion but rituals are there. And there is no harm in accepting the ground reality. Astaka Shraddha, soutramani yajna, etc are based on animal sacrifice. They are consumed as prasadam in many places.
The Shakti peethas came into existence before kaliyuga and animal sacrifice was practised in them during their festival.
Animal sacrifice by hindus of Nepal is quite common and it includes Goat, sheep, buffallo, pigeon, etc. One example is given due to its large number of animal sacrifice which takes place at the Gadhimai Temple in the Bara district of Nepal, about 200 km south of the capital, Kathmandu. They have a festival in every five years where large number of animals are sacrificed.
Muniyandi Swami temple in Vadakkampatti in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai has a special item (mutton biryani) as its prasad during the Muniyandi festival.
Sacrificing a goat by hindus is quite common in various places. Many do not accept this openly but follow this as their family tradition.
12. Kanyadan :-
Unknowingly this is labelled as objectification of females. The word 'object' has several meanings. Like - have mass and volume, perceived by five sense organs, etc. Everyone is an object in one or the other way. No harm in knowing the various dimensions. . There is no need to take this ritual as any separate case of objectification. Unnecessary chaos is created without analyzing the fact.
Kanyadan' is present in every religion. Style and words differ but the concept of 'giving away' is there.
As in the Christian wedding - the person(s) chosen by the bride walks into the church and gives her away at the altar.
The groom normally holds the hand which was in a slightly forwarded position. These days the traditional words may or may not be spoken, depending on the choice of the bride (normally) but symbolically it shows 'giving'. Technical details are kept aside and focus is on the trend of 'giving away'.
Daan or donating (donation) isn't the right concept when one uses the word kanyadaan in Hinduism. Objectification is used and it is said by armchair activists, net experts, media revolutionaries that females are taken as an object or commodity without seeing other meanings of the word 'object'.
An object is usually that which includes mass and volume. Second dimension is knowing or perceiving five sense organs. From this angle everyone is an object in one or the other way. It isn't a case of blind support or rejection but seeing the implied meaning. Objectification on the basis of commercial action or personal property isn't our teaching in the name of marriage. In others, the transfer of property rights 'view' is there.
Though females were also treated as second grade (दोयम दर्जा) in Hinduism but in the case of wedding ceremony that wasn't the vision because bride was taken as RIK and groom as SAMA (the heading of the video). The reason is defined there. One who wants the explanation in English can read yaksha yudhisthira samvad (hard copy). Yaksha - Yudhisthira Samvad: Be a Competent Administrator https://t.co/vGMsUwAVdi

If we see the English translation done by Hindu scholars the situation is more or less the same.
ReplyDeleteRigveda6.72.1-ye killed all darkness and the God's blasphemers.
Rigveda7.6.3-May the fire divine chase away those infidels, who do not perform worship & who're uncivil in speech. They're niggards, unbelievers, say no tribute to fire divine and offer no homage. The fire divine turns those godless people far away who institute no sacred ceremonies.
Rigveda 8.76.11-Both the heaven and earth shudder when you, O the resplendent Lord uttering your fearful roar, crush down the infidel(infidel is taken as dasas or dark skinned people).
Atharva veda 12.2.21-Do not covet our cattle, our men, our goats and sheep! Bend thy course elsewhere o strong God(ugra), slay the offsprings of the blasphemers!
Atharva veda 13.5.62 -Rend, rend to bites, rend through and through, scorch and consume and burn to dust, the one who rejects the vedas.
Yajurveda 32.3-na tasya pratima asti - there's no idol of him.
Thanks for sharing these. Just imagine the blunder done in the name of scriptures. Formulas are there to judge the authenticity of any scripture which were not used by the cults and academic institutions so how can anyone do the work properly. With this childish translation creates more issues.
ReplyDeleteRegarding idol - anyone made will be less because all the qualities can't be present in one idol.
